IMU badminton club will be having their weekly badminton session at Michael's Badminton Academy (MBA), Puchong this saturday (30 Jan 2010) from 10.00am - 12.00pm.. Everyone is invited to join.. Recycling campaign‏

Dear All,

Students from MP 1/10, MQ1/10 are organizing a recycling campaign to raise funds for Charity Home. We need your help by sending to them recyclable items.

They will collect the items from 21 Jan until 29 Jan 2010.
Time for collection : 8.15am - 9.15am; 12.45noon - 1.30pm
Venue: IMU Atrium.
Items: Old newspaper magazines, books, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, boxes, cardboards, etc.

Hopefully you may support the campaign to save the environment and also support for the orphanage.

B107 Class Photo

Well, look what I've found in my terabytes of photo archives. A class photo taken on the 10th of April 2008, you must have been in semester 2 then. This was also the fateful day someone had to be taken to CSU as this person fainted. Right after my lecture. Entitled "Aggregation of Surface Active Substances". Obviously this person wasn't active. I remember this clearly, but shall not mention the name. One has to protect the guilty party.

Regarding the Law Books

Hi all.

Regarding the Law books that I am ordering through library, they informed me that due to limited supply, the printing company is currently on the job of increasing print numbers, thus causing a delay in the books arrival.

I am aware that next Monday is the first assessment for Jurisprdudence, and we need our books. At the meantime, it would be great if you can borrow from a senior or photostat some information. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

The two book are:

1) Malaysian Laws On Poisons and Sale of Drugs (red cover)

2) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (Act 234) and Drug Dependants..... (Red cover)

Both publisher are International Law Book Services.

guys..you know..i'm so proud of this batch. each time i see us..as one..doing things together, and enjoying together, makes me smile...how many batches in the world can actually do that? all 107 (omg!! B107 has 107 of us! how cool's that!) of us! even classes of 20 couldn't even stay united/close/hang out. go around, ask your friends, and realize what a great batch we are!

wan ling and wei ping, thanks for planning the whole thing. organizing and initiating. it was a great event. a great idea. and we all had an awesome night! right???!! =) hee! all thanks to both of you, really.

Malaysian Studies Photos & Videos DVD

I'm so sorry this has been delayed.
Just wanted to ask if anybody wants a DVD of the photos and videos taken by various cameras (including mine) of our Malaysian Studies project.

I will be resizing my photos (cos most of them are 1mb and above) so that everything can be included into 1 DVD-R. Those who want a copy, I hope you don't mind a minimum fee of RM 1.50 for the DVD (including the plastic sleeve or cover, if they're cheap).

If you all want, I'll include the pictures from tonight's class party too :) If the files aren't too big :) - no promises.

SRC-Student Dialogue Session‏

Dear all,

Some students have informed us that they would like there to be more SRC-Student interaction and thus we have come up with a Dialogue Session!

It will take place in the Atrium, on the 20th of January at 12.30 - 2 PM. There will be lunch provided.

This will be a great chance for students to share their concerns with us and let us know what they like about IMU and what they would like to see improved.

This is also a great chance to find out what your council has been doing for you!

To all Open Day volunteers,

Please be at the atrium at 5pm tomorrow (Friday) for a short briefing for Sunday. The SRC president will be there to brief u guys on your tasks. Thanks.


Other announcements:

- The lockers located outside MDLs and MPH is free for anyone to use. Just cut away the rafia strings securing the locker, and you can use your own lock. HOWEVER, please remove all belongings at the end of the day (means no overnite placing of stuffs), or else the guards will remove them from the lockers.

- The training session for the use of IMU printers will be on the 14th, 15th, 19th and 20th of Jan, at Elab 1, 11am-2pm and 5pm-6pm.

- Please wear ID at ALL times. Our "tactics" of passing by guards without ID has been exposed. Especially the tactic of just using the lanyard-without-ID.

A How-To Guide to Printing on the new Ricohs.

Dear all,

Here is a tutorial writter by our IT Liaison Alicia on how to use the printers. You can also find it at her blog page.

Merely wanted to post up a written guide on how to print using the new printers as it's easy to get lost if you aren't too sure :(.

You would first need to get your pin, if you haven't efficiently already done so at HelpDesk on the third floor, left of the escalator. Miss Aarthi is the person in charge, and she is the only one who has the right to generate your six-digit pin, so if there's a congestion, please bear with us.

The second thing you need is paper and a computer within one of the ELLs.

After you've decided what to print, click Print (take note of the printer as well; if it's not the Ricoh printer for the ELLs, then your print job will not be received). You would see a window popping up asking for your username and password, both which are your Student ID number. Type them both out and hit Enter. If you would like to see/make sure that your print job is sent, you can look for Start Menu > Ringdale > Client Administration. Under the Print Jobs tab, you should be able to see your print job.

Next, get up from chair and move towards printer with your papers, and insert papers into the topmost Tray 1. Gently push it back, to avoid its internals from breaking.

After, ensure printer is on (the On button is on your top right), and that the Printer button on your left has a lighted up LED.

Enter pin number (eg 123456) onto the black box on printer (not the printer itself) and press #. If the pin works, there are two beeps. If it does not, three beeps will sound.

IMU as shooting scene

Dear All

IMU has been chosen as a filming location for an educational programme to be broadcasted on Astro Xiao Tai Yang (Channel 325).

Astro Xiao Tai Yang is a 24-hour channel dedicated to bring fun and educational programming for children from 4 to 12 years old. Astro Xiao Tai Yang will showcases Taiwan and China popular and award winning children programming. These include musical, animation, puppet show and learning and education magazines in science, English, art & craft, nature, music, history etc. In addition, in house production and local contents will be included too.

The filming crew will be at IMU Bukit Jalil campus on 14, 20 and 29 January 2009 from 8.00 am - 6.00 pm. Therefore, please do not be surprised to see people with cameras and filming props around the campus.
