- You could choose English version on the top of the website.
- Click ‘Begin your survey here’ and log in with your IC.

- Next, please answer all the questions. Once completed, your ‘Maklumat Profil
Graduan’ will appear. You could print the page for your reference.

PTPTN Insurance Deduction

For those taking PTPTN, I have been informed via email by SAD that the RM 220.80 that has been deducted from the total amount banked in is for insurance purposes.

This new insurance thing was just implemented, and is actually deducted per semester and also depends on how much you borrow. Please refer the image posted. TQ~

MyPSA National Gathering of Pharmacy Students (NoGAPS) 2011

Venue: University of Malaya

Date: 8th June – 13th June 2011

Theme: To Infinity and Beyond

Participant fees: RM190.00 (for No-GAPS) or RM190+RM50 (for Pre-NoGAPS and NoGAPS)

Information regarding Pre-NoGAPS:

1) Pre-NoGAPS will be held from 8th to 9th June 2011. It is limited to only 16 participants. Therefore, participants will be selected in a first come first served basis.

2) Fees: additional RM50 (inclusive of food and accommodation)

3) The workshop is on tablet manufacturing in the pharmaceutical pilot plant located in the Department of Pharmacy, University of Malaya.

4) It is optional to participate in Pre-NoGAPS.

Hurry up and register with your Public Relation Officer. Registration is from 28th February 2011 till 28th March 2011. Your registration is considered valid only after payment of the participant fee has been made to your Public Relation Officer.

Updates!

1) The date of SPA interview is on 22-24th of March instead of 21-24, as SPA do not do interview on Monday. Anyway, do not have to worry much on the exact date, just keep in mind that it will be held that week, cos the namelist will only be announced 2-3 days before the interview.

2) Regarding the size of envelope, if you refer the website, it mentioned A4 size. So take note.

Student Power Lecture IMU - It's tomorrow, folks!!!

Back in Sixties, it was the golden age of the student movement in Malaysia. However, the young generation nowadys seem have forgotten about the history behind - the struggle that has rocked the campus and the national politics nearly half a century ago.

Fahmi Reza, a filmaker, will be the speaker of the lecture. His documentary "10 Years Before Independence" had won the "Most Outstanding Human Rights Film’ in festival filem Freedom Film Fest in 2007. He will unveil the true story of the rise time of the struggle of students in the era '60an through public lectures. The lecture will be delivered through multimedia presentation, by using images, photos, videos, newspaper articles, archival material and interviews to IMU students.

Happy Valentine's Day, B107.. Thanks to those who have bought the MYPSA T-shirts, thank you very much for your support.. However, if you guys have noticed, there is a slight difference in the design of the shirt coded H from the original ones. There was a slight miscommunication between MYPSA and the shirt company. Apip, the president, had written a letter to apologise to all who were affected.. Below is the letter:

2 On September 2010, Malaysian Pharmacy Students Association (MyPSA) has conducted a T-shirt selling which consists of 9 designs in total. Unfortunately, some of the designs did not match with the one that we proposed. Unfortunately, these errors might be due to lack of communication and misunderstanding between the manufacturer and us. Another Form to Fill for Our PRP Registration

Hi all!

Other than the Borang 1 that we need to fill, this is another form, known as BMD (Borang Makluman Diri) that we need to fill and pass up.

The dateline to pass up both forms is actually 15th Feb, but since it is a holiday on the 15th, you still can pass up on 16th Feb. But best if you pass up both forms to me on the 14th when I see you for the first IS.

For those who had already pass up their Borang 1 to their lecturers, no worry, just inform me that you passed up to your lecturer cos I need to tick your name.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!! I will not assume that every one will be passing up their forms, as some may be planning to delay their PRP registration. So, do inform me whether you did/did not pass up both forms.

Here is a sneak preview of what a student ambassador does and the many benefits of signing up as one:
Student Ambassadors (SA) are a group of selected students who represent IMU in various activities, (Both in and out of IMU).
The SA liaise and interact with students, alumni, faculty, staff and even the public.
Our role is also to prepare and assist students in making the transition from the varsity life to a working one.

On top of having an impressive C.V and various other benefits, the student ambassador will receive FULLY PAID training sessions as part of the programme such as leadership camps, personal development, team-building activities and the list goes on.

If u read the msg sent by Mr Benny via Facebook Pharmacy Yes!, he mentioned that he plan to organise a 2-day refreshing course in clinical pharmacy to prepare us for the hospital attachment.

He plan to have it on Tuesday (9/11) and Wednesday (10/11), he wants to know how many people won't be around? Miss Wong has a concern that those not around may complain. This refreshing course will include the 4 hour lectures on paed, mental health, ICU and elderly, a 3-hour workshop on PCP, and 1 hour formative assessment (MCQ). PTPTN loan

just found out and thought i should share. when we applied for PTPTN on 2007, our interest rate was 3%. as we all know, it's now 1%. but the agreement we had with the government (the documents we signed) was 3%. so, if and only if u've signed another document (that says 1%), only then will u get the 1% agreement.

i wasn't sure if we needed to 'kemaskini'. so i contacted IMU. here's what she said.

Thank you for your mail. The ujrah to 1% is only effective from May 2008, if I am not mistaken. So your loan before this date will still be under 3% interest. Yes, you can apply for the change in ujrah for 2008 onwards.

The Community Service Club of IMU is having a Community-Oriented Overseas Trip to LAOS from
the 20th - 27th of November 2010. They will be building a small library corner & will be conducting
health screenings for the villagers of MuangKham Village, Luang Prabang.

They need to raise funds for the building of the library corner and for equipment for the health screening sessions,
and therefore are having a Food Bazaar on Monday, 11th October 2010 from 1 pm onwards
at the Atrium.

Please do come and contribute to a worthy cause. Your help is much needed!

I am the only speaker. This is on voluntary basis. Target audience is BP1/08 and B1/07. But the room can only contain 100 patients..oopsss..I mean students.. So first come first served ah..

Topics will include:
1. How and why natural family planning.
2. Basic menstrual cycle and BOM method.
3. Some other medical and social advantages of BOM method.

Super Senior (Korean: 슈퍼 시니어), often referred to as SS or Syiok Sendiri (고객님의 충격), is a popular group from IMU formed by B107 Entertainment in 2010. The name of the group was specifically designed as they are now one of the most senior student in IMU, the one that shall not be forgotten at all time.

With a total of 6 members, Loo Wei Wen, King Teck Long, Lam Weng Fai, Wong Wai Han, Fion Lam and Melissa Lim was chosen from millions applicants via auditions held in C1-3-3 by B107 Entertainment in 2009.

And now, they are ready to make their first ever appearance in the public, which is the upcoming IMU Chinese Singing Competition!

For those who din listen earlier, here are somethings which u need to know.
The location for our photo shoot is at Taman Bukit Jalil Park. Google it pls. It is NOT Bukit Komanwel. You will need transportation to get there. If ur memory is good, it is the one we visited during our IMU charity run in sem 1.
Pls be at the location 30mins BEFORE your allocated time.
Gather at the middle entrance.
Pls bring along ur props.
Girls, if u guys wanna wear high heels, pls CARRY them, it may be damaged by the terrain there.
Pls be responsible for ur own props & belongings.
For those who can’t stand the sun, bring ur umbrella/sun block.

We have arranged the photo-shoot session for our convo mag. We are having it early in the semester because we know some of us will be doing our research overseas and it would be hard to re-group again.

We have divided the class according to gender, meaning girls and boys, and within each group, the groups are further divided according to colours.

Details are as follows.

Since we don’t have the timetable with us when we planned this, the dates have been fixed on Saturdays only. However once the time table is available and if we have a weekday free, we might change the date.

Elective in Taiwan

As suggested by David, I hereby trying ~~very hard~~ my very best to write a post regarding our elective in Taiwan. To no surprise please, you'll see a duplication of this post in my personal blog hehe.

Before I start writing, I shall clarify that as much as I would like to talk as a representative of five, I might still, at certain point, convey my personal point of view, which may not represent the others. (Alright, just kidding.)

Okay. So wasting no time. On the 6th of May, five of us, including myself, Chia Yan, Sor Leng, Ann Gie and the thorn among the roses, Teck Long, flew over to Taiwan to begin our three-weeks elective, that was to be attached to Mackay Medical College, located in San-Jhih Township (三芝鄉), Taipei, Taiwan. As a brief introduction, Mackay Medical College was set up in year 2009. Hence currently, Mackay has only its first batch of students, comprising of 67 medical and nursing students. Yeah you heard it right. Only 67! Thus with no surprise, we were easily known by the entire school! =p However! This small number of students, along with the lecturers and staffs was more than enough to give us an amazing and inspiring experience in Mackay. In short, they were simply capable, outspoken, friendly, thoughtful, VERY hospitable and most importantly, they gave you the warmhearted feeling whenever you were with them. =)

As our purpose of such attachment was to learn as much as possible, particularly about their education system and learning culture, we tried to attend as much of their activities and lectures as possible. So as soon as on the second day upon arrival, we attended a CPR lesson together with the medical students. Each of us had the chance to practice CPR as well as first aid for choking on a human model.

Starting from Monday the following week, we started attending proper lectures with the fellow students. Unlike us, they had fixed timetable every week, consisting of both compulsory and optional classes. In the two-weeks time, we attended various lectures, including Japanese and Chinese Language, Advanced Biology, Organic Chemistry, Basic Psychology, Human Development, Taiwan Medical History, Medicine and Cancer etc. Their education system was apparently more student-centered whereby for certain classes, different students were assigned to deliver lectures every week and for others, students were asked to do review of movies or case study followed by presentation in class. Whenever a question was asked or when an issue was raised, their students actively participated in the discussion and delivered their ideas in a very logical and presentable way.

In the meantime, we also had chance visiting several hospitals and universities. They included Mackay Memorial Hospital both in Dan Shui and Taipei, Changhua Christian Hospital, Aletheia University, Chung Yuan Christian University and National Yang Ming University. Besides, we also visited the Cord Blood Stem Foundation in ~~National Yang Ming~~ Chung Yuan Christian University. It was like real-time experience of what we had learnt from Biotech and CTT.

Definitely, we wouldn't miss the chance to tour around Taiwan. After all, it was our first time (except for Chia Yan, which was her second time) visiting Taiwan. In Taipei itself, we visited lots of places, including Museum of Contemporary Art 当代艺术馆, Taipei 101, Night Markets (Shi Da 师大 . Shi Lin 士林 and Guang Zhou St. Tourist 广州街), Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall 中正纪念堂, Zhong Lie Ci 忠烈祠, Grand Hotel 圆山大饭店, Taipei Mucha Zoo 台北木栅动物园, Mao Kong 猫空， Miramar Entertainment Park 美丽华娱乐园, Yang Ming Shan 阳明山, National Palace Museum 国立故宫博物院 etc.

Second day in Hua Lian, we went for a day trip with another group of familiar people. Haha. They wereKean Ping, Wei Ping, Wei Wen, KC, Wan Ling and Ling Wei. Honestly, it felt warm to meet up with "gaki-lang" in a foreign land. =p

Apart from tourist spots, visiting Taiwan was nothing if we didn't get to eat their food, which was of great varieties and was absolutely nice!

First of all, introducing our daily breakfast in Mackay. It could be things like sandwiches, burgers, kuih or spaghetti with a cup of drinks, usually tea or coffee.

Beef Noodle. Btw, it was brinjal that Teck Long was holding. =p

Well. Those are pretty much the summary of the entire trip in Taiwan. One day before we left, we actually made a short farewell presentation for Mackay. Again, they were impressed by Teck Long's video-making skill. =D

Alegria Workcamp 2010

I am here to keep my promise.. :) Remember i have suggested previously that everyone of us share among B107 what we have done for our elective? So, i guess i should start first and hopefully everyone will keep the ball rolling..

The group of four, Kin Man, Kwong Howe, Boon Fong and me, went to Alegria, Cebu for a workcamp.. Together with a group of Singaporeans and Prof Valerio from NUS, we helped the Alegria elementary school to set up a perimeter, that is to fence up the school... Interesting thing is that the fence actually acts to prevent goats from entering the school compound, not thieves.. :) We carried logs up the slopes, dug holes, and planted the pillars there.. Seems easy but not really.. Carrying logs was easy stuff.. But we had to also carry cement pillars up the hill.. This kills.. seriously... But we managed to fence up the school compound during the camp..

Besides that, we had another tough task, FARMING... Weeding and ploughing the field were not that tough if not for the sun.. The sun drained all our energy.. Funny why they wanted us to work when the sun was out and rest when the sun set...

After this camp, most of the kids know how to say 'wo ai ni', thanks to us from IMU.. Of course they learnt other mandarin words and phrases too.. They were so enthu in learning mandarin that they even used their handphones to take down notes.. Happy to see that they pick up mandarin fast.. Because we have great chinese teacher, mr loo and mr eng, not to mention what kind of words they taught them.. lol...

Anyway, the workcamp was only part of our trip there.. We had more excitement apart from that.. :P We went to lots of places in cebu and bohol islands.. The best thing there was the beaches... They were awesome.. Had uploaded some photos of our trip to the Philippines in my facebook.. Photos describe better.. :)

I got to know from pang tsen that for elective right, there will be 2 assessment forms to be filled by the internal supervisor (tutor) and also by the external supervisor ( the one that responsible for ur elective).

Print them out and bring along the evaluation form for ur external supervisor to assess. :)

If you are unsure or doubtful about the location/direction, give me a call and I'll try to explain.

And to all of you who haven't found your transport there, you can choose the driver of your choice. Please do it ASAP so that the driver can arrange the time to meet and pick you up from IMU or elsewhere. (since many of you have your hairdo and makeup appointments)
However, do understand that the some drivers might find their cars full already by now.
Hence, you'll have to find another driver from the list if that happens.

Also, please note that the offical starting time for the event is 6.30pm.
Please try to be there before 6.30pm as there will be firespitters, etc performing.
You don't wanna miss it! =D

No polystyrene is allowed during this week.

However, cafeteria will be providing paper food container for packing purposes.Due to limited paper food container, polystyrene maybe used for packaging once the paper food container finished. Please take note the RM0.30 will be charged for such service(applies either for paper container/polystyrene container).The fund will be go into WWF organization. So, please be encouraged to use your OWN CONTAINER to pack your food (whether in uni or not).

IMU Tennis Championship 2010

Dear all,

The IMU Tennis Club will be organizing the IMU Tennis Championship on the 10th and 11th April 2010.

There will be 4 categories contested.

Men's and Women's Singles, Men's and Women's Doubles.

For the singles events there will be 16 females and 16 males and for the doubles event there will be 8 pairs for the men’s and 8 pairs for the ladies’. The event will be held at the Duta National Tennis Centre 10 (Singles event) and 11 (Doubles event) April 2010, 8am -12pm. For the preliminary rounds, players will play one tie break set with advantage play, while the Semi-Finals and Finals will be one pro set (first to reach 8 games) no tie break, advantage play. Punctuality is important, as walkover will be given if the player is not present after 10 minutes. Prizes for all categories are : 1st prize RM100, 2nd Prize RM80 and 3rd Prize RM50. Winners will also be awarded certificates. Entrance fee is RM5 per person per event.

As there are limited places, registration is on a first come first serve basis and registration will close next Friday, 2nd April 2010. To register please reply this email with your FULL NAME ,Student ID number and which event you would like to enter (e.g. males singles or ladies doubles). The entrance fee will be collected sometime next week at the atrium. Will inform via email which days those are.

Transportation for CC Attachment (Group D)

Group D members,

Attached here is the arrangement of transportation for our CC attachment on next tuesday (30 Mar. 2010)

We will be gathering in front of IMU by 7.20 am and will be leaving by 7.30am.

The actual meeting time for us at HUKM is 9.00 am.
And the reasons why we are going so early are because :
1. Limited Car Park in HUKM.
2.We can have breakfast over there. (we dont want anybody to faint over there :P)

NOTE:

For AH WONG's car members, we will be taking LRT to BANDAR TUN RAZAK station, and she will be picking us up over there and go straight towards the hospital. The gathering time for us (ah wong's 1 only) will be 7.20 am also (Don't late). Expected time to meet ah wong at BTR station will be 7.45am.

If anyone have any problem related to this post, kindly approach me. (If anyone want to change car, u guys can change urself with the permission of each other.)

Jumbo To Cease Operation

Dear All,

We wish to advise that Jumbo (current main operator) at Pandan Serai Cafe has advised that they will not be renewing their contract which expires on 31 March 2010. Jumbo has indicated that they have been losing money since operation and that their losses were higher since the introduction of vegetarian food by Sri Emas. They had approached us for committed pax and for exclusivity, however, the request does not meet IMU's requirement. From the beginning it had been made known to all operators that:

* There would be 1 main operator and maximum of 3 sub-operators
* No restriction or exclusivity extended to operators to meet IMU's requirement ie student's limited break time, reduction of re-queuing for other items and Cafe Committee will control the pricing/portions

We are aware that recently Jumbo have been awarded a contract to supply food for a committed 300 pax daily with a company.

We have now secured an interested party (after approaching 3 potential operators) to take over as a main operator at Pandan Serai Cafe. Append below is a brief outline of the New Operator - Impian Rasa Foods for your information:

Impian Rasa Foods was registered on 13 November 2008 and it is managed by family members under the ownership of Puan Nor Azizah binti Mustaffa. Currently they have 3 restaurants under the name of :

- Restoran Mutiara Pedas
- Restoran Mutiara Pedas - Taman Industri
- Restoran Mutiara Iman.

Their main operation, a restaurant is based at Puchong.

They are currently operators of Kesas Canteen since 2008 and they are also supplying packed food to SP Setia Berhad on a daily basis. They are also one of IMU caterers.

Jumbo will cease operation at 3pm on Friday 26th, to clear and clean for handover on Saturday 27th to IMU.

Impian Rasa Foods (New Operator) will take over on Saturday 27th to prepare for operation on Monday 29th as main operator at Pandan Serai Cafe.

Faster promotions for doctors, dentists and pharmacists (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Tuesday announced a comprehensive career advancement plan for public doctors, dentists and pharmacists, which expedites their promotion to Grade 54 by between two and five years.

He said the initiative, which involved an additional annual expenditure of RM200mil, was aimed at improving career advancement by giving them the opportunity to move up to Grade 54 within a more reasonable time frame.

For example, a medical specialist can progress to Grade 54 in nine years compared with 11 years now, and a (clinical/ administrative) medical officer can move up in 12 years compared with 17 years now.

“Following this improvement in the career advancement plan, the Government hopes that doctors, dentists and pharmacists in the Health Ministry will continue to provide excellent service to the people,” he said in a statement.

Najib also said that the Public Service Department and the Health Ministry were working out the promotions of eligible Grade UD44 medical officers to Grade UD48, and the majority of them were expected to be enjoy the benefit before the end of this month.

Najib said the improvement was in recognition of the role and contribution of those providing healthcare to the people, and it was felt that this would enhance their commitment and determination to fulfill the desire to raise the level of service at government hospitals.

Elaborating, the prime minister said that on Dec 5, 2007, the Government agreed to promote directly to Grade UD44 all medical officers appointed from Jan 1, 2008 onwards, soon after completing their two-year housemanship and having registered with the Malaysian Medical Council.

To ensure that medical officers appointed prior to Jan 1, 2008 were unaffected by the decision, it was decided to promote these officers to Grade UD44, he said, adding that this involved promoting 9,871 medical officers in 2009.

The career advancement plan is as follows:

* Promotion to Grade 44 for dentists who have been on Grade 41 for two years, and for pharmacists after three years.

* Promotion to Grade 48 for doctors and dentists who have been on Grade 44 for three years or up to the date of gazetting as specialists, whichever is earlier; and for pharmacists who have been on Grade 44 for four years.

* Promotion to Grade 52 for (clinical/ administrative) doctors and dentists who have been on Grade 48 for four years or subject to availability of vacant positions, whichever is earlier; also for medical specialists and dental specialists who have been on Grade 48 for two years or subject to availability of vacant positions, whichever is earlier, and subject to recommendation of the Specialists Evaluation Panel of the Health Ministry, and pharmacists who have been on Grade 48 for four years or subject to availability of vacant positions, whichever is earlier.

* Promotion to Grade 54 for (clinical/ administrative) doctors and dentists who have been on Grade 52 for three years or subject to availability of vacant positions, whichever is earlier.

For medical specialists and dental specialists who have been on Grade 52 for two years or subject to availability of vacant positions, whichever is earlier, and subject to the recommendation of the Specialists Evaluation Panel.

For pharmacists who have been on Grade 52 for three years or subject to availability of vacant positions, whichever is earlier.

For medical specialists and dental specialists, the promotion from Grade 54 to Special Grade C and higher is subject to the recommendation of the ministry’s Specialists Evaluation Panel.

For medical officers (clinical/ administrative), dental officers (clinical/ administrative) and pharmacists, the promotion from Grade 54 to Special Grade C and higher is subjection to availability of vacant positions.

Najib said that based on the career advancement plan, the maximum period for doctors, dentists and pharmacists eligible to be promoted up to Grade 54 had been shortened.

The average period for promotion to Grade 54 is as follows:

* Medical officers (Specialist) -- nine years (now 11 years)

* Dental officers (Specialist) -- nine years (now 11 years)

National Pharmacy Sports Carnival!!!!

Early in the morning (6.30 a.m), 10 IMU students went to Kompleks Sukan Negara at Shah Alam for Annual National Pharmacy Sports Carnival. They participated only in 2 events- futsal and badminton. There is only 1 main objective- TO WIN.

However, when they reached there, they realized that they are totally outnumbered.

There are total of 9 universities (USM, UKM, UM, UCSI, MSU, CUCMS, IIUM, UITM and AIMST) pharmacy students waiting for IMU to become their prey.

However, they faced the crowd without fear

and they held the flag (banner) proudly.

Coming as the underdogs, the futsal team has fought their life to appear as the leader in group stage.

Health status

BP- 280/180 mmHg, PR- 300 pulses/min, O/I- 1000000/10, adrenaline level- MAAAAAXXXX!!!!

However, luck was not at their sides in semi-final and 3^rd and 4^th placing. IMU has lost by 1 in both games.

The IMU futsal team ended up as 4^th.

On the other hand, the solo badminton player has cruised through into the semi finals with ease. Opponent in semis was very strong and after a tough fight, the Solo man was beaten. After that, the IMU player has won in the 3^rd and fourth placing.

Other activities of IMU students include syok sendiri time as well as singing and dancing with MSU students in the closing ceremony!!!

The 10 IMU students left at 7.30 p.m (after 13 hours). It was an exciting experience and none of them regret joining because they have earned something that is more important than the medals--------friendship J Congrats David on winning the bronze medal and a very big thank you to the supporter, Soon Yang for helping us throughout the whole day. Thank you so much.

So in the end, what do people think of IMU pharmacy students (even though some of them don't even know IMU)?

They rock.

As you know, the end of our Sem 5 is approaching (or beginning, for you medicals ;P) and so a few of us have to write some articles for our convomag. Me and Amy Chen were given the task of writing up an article apiece on which gender makes the better dentist, male or female. SO, to aid us in getting solid data we created this here survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7VWG3KY), and I was wondering if you could just email it to the batch reps of every batch in IMU, along with the faculty so we can write our articles with some statistics instead of just some opinions and convictions.
